Welcome to my latest blog. Back in July, I attended a newborn workshop along side 2 other photographers. It was a wonderful (and intense) day hosted by Kathryn Jefferson from Delicious Baby Studio in Accrington. Like with any job, as a photographer, you are constantly learning new techniques. So training is important if you want to keep improving your work. In the morning, we mainly discussed the business side of newborn photography. We then broke for a lovely lunch (provided by Kathryn) where we got to know each other, discuss our plans, where we were up to etc....Lunch time was now over, Leyla-Li and her Mummy arrived. Quick top up of milk for her and we were all now fully refreshed and ready to go! She totally rocked her session. She slept throughout and I was able to capture some beautiful images. The only thing she hated was being on her tummy. That's where the second model of the day, Toby came in. He was also a little star and was more than happy to oblige with tummy poses. In fact, he didn't even flinch. He was obviously very tired. Toby can be seen in the last 3 images.
All in all, it was a successful day. We were all left exhausted, which is a good thing as we had got so much out of it. And..... there were only a couple of toilet incidents with the babies.
The best age to capture great images of newborn babies is between 5 and 10 days. This is when they are at their sleepy stage and makes it easier to pose them. I take bookings for newborn photo shoots at any stage of pregnancy. However it is best to book in early to avoid disappointment. Dates can be subject to change, depending when baby is born.
