Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.
Catherine and Joe! What a fantastic couple! I actually only met them a few weeks before their winter wedding! They live in Nottingham, but were getting married up north due to Catherine being from up this way. They had booked me earlier in the year and we had made arrangements to get together when they were up making final arrangements.
Catherine and Joe have been together for 6 years. Catherine had moved down to Nottingham with work and Joe had moved back there from London as he wanted to be closer to home. The rest (as they say) is history. Oh, the couple share their home with their fluffy fur baby - Oscar. Would you believe that Oscar has a curfew? Catherine worries about him if he is out too late. This was just one of the hilarious tales that we heard during the speeches.
Anyway, the day of the wedding was here. I met Catherine and her bridal party at her parents house in Great Harwood, Lancashire. It was literally 10 minutes away from my house in the Ribble Valley; perfect! Bridal preparation was well underway. Catherine had 6 bridesmaids and her Mum with her. They all looked incredible and were such fun to be around.
The ‘big reveal’ of Catherine in her wedding dress to her Dad, Paul was amazing. I had previously asked him if he was going to shed a tear. He said no. He was wrong! He was grinning from ear to ear, tears streaming and looked so proud of his beautiful daughter. This resulted in the bridesmaids in tears too!
Whilst I was with the bridal party in Great Harwood, my second photographer, Laura was with Joe and his best man for groom preparation at Salmesbury Hotel, Preston. They had stayed there the night before.
When I shoot a wedding, I always like to give myself plenty of time to get to the Church in case there is an issue with traffic. I had no worries about that at this wedding. It was literally around the corner from Catherine’s parents! St Bartholomew’s Church, Great Harwood is a lovely little building. When I arrived, I was greeted by the vicar wearing his Christmas jumper; awesome!
Catherine & Joe were now husband & wife. Whilst the newlyweds signed the register, Catherine’s Auntie sang for the congregation.
Tea and biscuits were provided for the guests whilst Catherine and Joe had a couple of photographs taken. We then headed up to Stanley House Hotel for the wedding reception.
Stanley House Hotel is beautiful and has some amazing views. Unfortunately, due to the time of year and time of day, we couldn’t see much of them. But, that didn’t matter. The 17th century manor house itself makes an amazing backdrop!
Catherine and Joe love to travel together. Joe actually proposed whilst the couple were skiing in France. Travel was the theme for the wedding breakfast table names; each named after countries and each table had photographs of the couple during their adventures together.
Myself and Laura left shortly after the first dance. Catherine and her girls were busting some moves on the dance floor. They had all had the best day.
I love being a Lancashire wedding photographer. It’s an amazing feeling to capture such happy memories for newlyweds.
