Beautiful spring wedding at Mitton Hall, Lancashire - Jeanette and Trevor

Jeanette and Trevor. Where do I start? It could take me a long time to tell you their history due to the couple being together for 20 years before actually getting married!

Jeanette and Trevor had originally planned on sneaking away quietly to get married, but were talked into having a wedding more local and with actual wedding guests! She had seen some photographs that I had taken at a recent styled shoot and fallen in love with them. She actually knew my bride from that shoot and made contact with her, asking for my details. They were a little dubious about having a wedding photographer as neither of them like to be the centre of attention. They hate posed photos and the thought made them uncomfortable. After speaking on the phone to me and looking through my wedding portfolio, they soon realised that I don’t shoot that way. I have a relaxed approach to wedding photography.

Jeanette and Trevor got married just 5 weeks after we first spoke on the phone at Mitton Hall in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire. They’d originally said they didn’t want to have their portraits taken together and just wanted me to focus on taking photographs with them and their guests having fun. I spoke to them about how my couples love that part as it gives them a breather and chance to actually speak to each other. I explained that Mitton Hall has such lovely grounds and it would be a shame to miss out on them, even if it was just for 5 minutes. They soon saw where I was coming from and agreed. However, when it came to it. I couldn’t stop them! Trevor kept saying “How about we do one over there?” and “No, it’s fine, we can stay down here a little longer”. Jeanette and I laughed about how we couldn’t stop him once he started!

Jeanette and Trevor booked a bespoke wedding package, so I was only with them for 3 hours. But the time I spent with them was amazing! Seriously, this pair have been together for 20 years and it was like watching teenagers in love! The way they were looking at each other was lovely to see.

Here is what Jeanette had to say;

Jane is so friendly, professional and her pictures are just beautiful. We organised our wedding within a short time frame and were lucky enough to book a bespoke package with Jane. As a camera-shy couple, we wanted to have a relaxed and natural photographs, not posed. Jane was a calming influence for a nervous bride before the ceremony She was friendly and unobtrusive and so captured our special day beautifully and naturally. She was quite right to persuade us to have a short time walking round the gardens. We actually loved that special time together and the pictures reflect that beautifully! Our gallery was available very quickly indeed and a wonderful little USB stick too! Just Brilliant - first class!
Thank you so much!

Elegant spring wedding at Higher Trapp, Simonstone - Sarah & Andy

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding & Family Photographer.

Sarah & Andy

Sarah and Andy met at work a few years back. In fact, I used to work with them both too (before I left to be a wedding photographer)! Back in 2017, the couple enjoyed a holiday in Cyprus. On the final day of the holiday, Andy popped the question and Sarah said YES! They began planning straightaway. Once they had booked their wedding venue - Higher Trapp Country House Hotel, Lancashire, they contacted me to book in. I was so excited to hear their plans. I love listening to all my couples plans and I especially love it when I can help them with recommendations for other wedding suppliers.

Sarah & Andy

As part of their wedding package, we included an engagement shoot, otherwise known as a pre wedding shoot. The lovely couple booked me in the winter of 2017, so we decided to arrange the engagement shoot for spring instead. Anyway, we met up one evening in May 2018 at Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston, Lancashire. It was a glorious evening! We took a stroll around; walking, talking, laughing whilst I captured some gorgeous and natural photographs of them. They were great fun around the camera and I knew then that their wedding day was going to be awesome!

Sarah & Andy

11 months later and it was the day of the wedding. Another glorious day! I met up with Sarah, her bridesmaids, her Mum and not forgetting, her gorgeous stepdaughter, Maddie! Bridal preparation was well underway. I couldn’t believe how relaxed everyone was. Everyone was obviously excited, but no-one was stressed. I took my second photographer, Laura across to meet Andy and the groomsmen. They were just as relaxed. Everyone was getting ready at the hotel. Obviously in different parts.

Sarah’s wedding dress was beautiful. So simple, so elegant. She looked amazing, they all did! I went in to the ceremony room ahead of the wedding party. Soothing music was being played on a harp to the wedding guests. Andy was now looking nervous and emotional. He was my first groom who told me not to be nice to him or it would make him cry (he was doing that without me being nice to him, sssshhhhh). Maddie was a flower girl and came down the aisle first. She burst in to tears when she spotted her Daddy as did Andy in return. Andy missed the other bridesmaids coming down the aisle due to Daddy and daughter cuddles. At one point, I thought he was going to miss his bride coming down. Luckily, he didn’t!

Sarah & Andy

I made full use of the amazing grounds of the Higher Trapp for group shots and couples portraits. It was such a nice day that I got to take the newlyweds out more than once! I obviously didn’t take them away from their guests for that long but I managed to get some after the wedding ceremony (my couples love this as it gives them a moment to themselves), then again as the sun was setting and finally a quick 5 minutes to get a nighttime shot. Andy had told me that he loved my backlit night shots, so I knew I had to get it for him. That was one of the images I gave them as part of their sneak peak. They loved it!

This was an amazing day all round. Thanks to everyone involved for making it so perfect.

So, I am now in my second year of wedding photography. I’ve got to be honest, I totally love it! I have always been a creative person and I definitely like to use that side of me when it comes to wedding photography.

Like most things, photography is changing all the time. In order to keep up with this, I like to attend wedding workshops. It’s a way of leaning from some of the best and also making friends with other photographers. It’s a way to experiment and try new things.

Last night, I attended a ‘Beach Goddess’ shoot at Formby Beach, Liverpool. It’s only about an hour away from my home in Lancashire. Anyway, this photo shoot was organised by Toni Darcy. She had chosen a model who was perfect for this shoot. She had also chosen two dresses and a flower crown for Beth.

large flower crown - boho bride

We started off in the woodland area of Formby. There were some great areas to shoot in. I totally loved the areas with exposed tree roots. They worked so well with Beth’s look. We spent quite a lot of time playing with them before moving on to make some beautiful silhouettes. The sun was now going down and we made our way out on to the sands. The tide was out, but there were still plenty of pools on the sands. The Easter weekend was a scorcher, but the temperature had unfortunately dropped for this shoot. That didn’t stop Beth. She was so brave and even lay down on the waters edge for us to experiment with flash photography.

This workshop was an incredible experience. If you are a wedding photographer and reading this, get yourself on one of Toni’s workshops. She is so helpful and has some great tips to share.

If you are a bride or groom to be and like what you see on here and my website, give me a shout to see if I am available.

Ribble Valley, Lancashire wedding photographer - couples portraits

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

Bashall Barn Styled Shoot

Well hello!

You might already know that I am a Lancashire based wedding photographer. I live in a lovely little village called Langho. It is nestled in the beautiful Ribble Valley. I cover Cumbria, Yorkshire, Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and pretty much anywhere in the North West! That being said, I will travel further afield too.

When I meet new clients, I often tell them that my favourite part of shooting a wedding is the couples portraits. Most of them want to know why this is. It’s simple. From the start to the finish of the day, it is pretty full on……

Bridal preparation is a gentle easer into the day. But you aren’t 100% relaxed; more a mixture of nerves and excitement. That being said, I do love being there for bridal preparation as I get to interact and be with you and the bridal party from the word go.

The wedding ceremony is the reason we are all there!

The drinks reception is lovely as it is the first time that the wedding guests have got to give you their best wishes. They are very excited to congratulate you both. But….. you, the newlyweds haven’t even had chance to say hi to each other.

Now, it tends to be time for the couples portraits. Sometimes it is done after the confetti shot or group shots. That is totally on what timetable you have given me. So, I would tend to take you away from everyone else. That way, you can grab a breather. You can obviously take your drink with you, don’t panic! Couples portraits usually take around 20 minutes. I tend to walk around the grounds (park or wherever you have chosen) with you, shooting as we go. It is really relaxed. I do give you hints for posing and know what looks good. I encourage laughter and will often make a fool of myself to relax you and get a giggle. All the while, you are getting to chat and get close to your new wife/husband! Once we are done, I will return you to your guests. Depending on the time of year, I will sometimes nip you out again in the evening for some lovely golden hour (sunset) shots.

Throughout the day, I make sure I take lots of candid images of you and your wedding guests. I also focus of taking plenty of shots of the details there; table settings, centre pieces, flowers, signs etc.

I leave you in peace whilst you eat your wedding breakfast. No one wants their photograph taking whilst eating! I return for the wedding speeches and see you through until just after the cutting of the wedding cake and your first dance.

If you are looking for your wedding photographer and all this sounds good, please send me a message or give me a call.

// SNEAK PEEK // Pre Wedding Session at Brockholes Nature Reserve - Leanne and Amy

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

Leanne & Amy

I have known Leanne for a number of years now. I remember when her and Amy got together and when they got engaged. When they asked me if I would be their wedding photographer, I was over the moon. We met last year to discuss over a coffee (obviously!). Both Leanne and Amy told me how they hated having their photograph taken and were a little nervous about it. So we decided on doing a pre wedding session to give them a chance in front of my camera before the big event. The lovely ladies live in Chorley and I live in Langho (Ribble Valley). We decided that Brockholes Nature Reserve at Preston was the perfect place to meet.

Still feeling nervous about having her photograph taken, Leanne asked me if she could bring her two children along to hide behind. I said that it was fine, as long as she agreed to have at least one photo taken with just Amy. On the day, they both settled into it really easily and soon realised that they had nothing at all to worry about.

It was a lovely, but bitter cold morning. I am so excited to be shooting their wedding at Beeston Manor, Preston next month.

I totally love being a Lancashire wedding photographer. It’s the best job ever!

Daisy Chain Photography - Why pick me as your wedding photographer?

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

Bashall Barn Styled Shoot

So, you are finally engaged and planning the day you have been dreaming of for what seems like forever. Everyone is recommending wedding suppliers to you and it feels like a minefield. Who should you go with?

If you are reading this blog, chances are, I have been recommended to you, possibly by a friend or family member. Maybe I have come up on a google search or on your Facebook or Instagram feed. I thought I’d write some notes about myself, so that you can get to know me and get a feel of if I am the right wedding photographer for you.

_-17.jpg

If you have read my ‘about me’ page, you will already know this. But….. I was born in Ulverston, Cumbria where I spent all of my childhood. I was pretty much always outside; out on my bike, going for walks, doing something with animals etc. I was always interested in photography and my bedroom wall was covered in a sea of photos that I had taken of my adventures. This started off as pictures of animals etc and progressed to drunken nights out with my mates!

I moved to Lancashire shortly after I turned 21 and have been here ever since. I have lived in various areas of East Lancashire before settling in Langho, near Clitheroe. I haven’t always been a professional photographer. I wanted to be, but couldn’t take the risk of not having a guaranteed wage coming in. After having our 2 lovely daughters, I decided something had to change. I wanted to do something that fits more around them and spend more quality time with my family. This is when Daisy Chain Photography was born! I started off shooting newborns and families before quickly progressing on to wedding photography. Some of you might not have been interested in that. But I often get asked how I got in to photography during wedding consultations.

_-192.jpg

Talking about wedding consultations, I love getting together with new clients to discuss their wedding plans so far. It’s also a good excuse to get a coffee out. Usually a latte or a hot chocolate in fairness. If it’s a hot chocolate, I have to have cream and marshmallow on top! Anyway, moving on from me and my obsession with coffee and unhealthy treats….. I love to hear about what has been bought so far, the wedding dress (if the groom isn’t there), the flowers, little details etc. I also like to know how the couple got together and how the engagement went. It helps me to get a feel of how the couple work together. I show the couple my wedding portfolio and go through any questions they have. I let them know that having me as their wedding photographer is like having an extra friend there. I am very friendly and will chat to everyone, whilst working, obviously! But I also know when not to get involved and take a step back. I make sure they know that I am not a traditional wedding photographer and WON’T be lining them and their guests up for hours on end for endless group shots. Obviously, I do take the group shots that are requested. But I prefer to get natural images of guests interacting with each other and having a giggle.

On the wedding day, I like to have someone from the wedding party point out important guests to me. I know how important it is to capture an image of the bride with her beloved Grandma.

C&J (14).jpg

My husband and I were lucky enough to have Jane for both our engagement shoot and for our wedding day. We absolutely love the photos from both shoots. On both days, Jane made us feel at ease in front of the camera and created some beautiful memories that we will treasure. Many of our guests commented on how nice Jane was on our wedding day too. We would highly recommend Jane.
— Samantha & Liam

So, If all this sounds good to you (and looks good to you - portfolio video attached below), please send me an email or give me a call to discuss further.

I look forward to hearing from you and about your adventure so far!

Daisy Chain Photography, Lancashire based wedding photographer - Best of 2018

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

C&J (10).jpg

Wow. Is 2018 really over already? What an incredible year it has been. It has been the first full year of wedding photography and I have loved every minute of it! I have met some amazing couples, worked with incredible suppliers and visited some great venues all over the North West! I shot in venues in Lancashire, Manchester, Cheshire and Yorkshire. I live just outside Clitheroe, Lancashire, so it is quite central to all the places.

I have loved meeting all of my couples. I love to hear about how they got together, their engagement, plans for their wedding and finally, their plans for their future together. It’s a great feeling when a couple put their trust in you to shoot their wedding.

I am not a traditional wedding photographer. I really don’t like staged photographs where everyone is stood round for hours on end. I prefer the more natural approach and tend to capture guests laughing together. That being said, I do love my couples portrait sessions, but that only takes about 20 minutes and is nice for the bride and groom to have a breather!

I have put together a small selection of my favourite images from this year’s weddings. It was pretty hard selecting them as like I said, I have had some fabulous ones.

I have already hit 50% of my target for 2019 weddings and I can’t wait to get started on them. If you are getting married in 2019 or 2020 and still looking for a wedding photographer, get in touch to secure your date.

Our experience of working with Jane as our wedding photographer has been fantastic from the moment I met her. She had been in constant communication leading up to the wedding and on the day she was just perfect. Jane worked so hard to get the perfect pictures of our special day. She was very friendly and it was a pleasure having her as a part of our wedding. Thank you so much for our amazing photographs x

A Summers Wedding At Cliviger And Holmes Mill, Clitheroe - Sherry & Simon

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

Sherrie & Simon (37).jpg

Wow, June seems like such a long time ago now! Where does time go? What a beautiful summer we had. I shot so many weddings of my own, along with second shooting for other amazing wedding photographers.

I second shot for Laura from Laura Duggleby Photography at the wedding of Sherry and Simon. It was quite funny as the week before, Laura had second shot for me at Simon’s cousins wedding, so we already knew a lot of the guests!

Sherrie & Simon (8).jpg

I briefly met up with Simon and his groomsmen at his house. We then went to meet some of the wedding guests at The Ram Inn, Cliviger. Great little pub! Simon was really relaxed and having a great time catching up with friends and family. I stole away the groom and his groomsmen (woman) briefly to capture some lovely images before we wandered over the road to St. John’s Church. Simon was eager to get in and get started!

Sherrie & Simon (11).jpg

The bridesmaids arrived, closely followed by the beautiful bride. Sherry’s wedding dress was absolutely amazing; blush pink and backless! She has family in America and chose it when she was over there visiting.

Once the bride and groom had become Mr & Mrs, we went outside for a few photographs before heading across to Holmes Mill, Clitheroe. I personally LOVE Holmes Mill. I think it’s not only an amazingly quirky wedding venue, but it’s also great for a family meal or a few drinks out.

Sherrie & Simon (22).jpg

The room looked fab. Sherry and Simon are fans of Star Wars. They had little Lego Star Wars figures throughout, including on the cake, in vases with fairy lights and even in the buttonholes. This impressed me. Not as much as if it was Marvel Lego figures, but you can’t have everything…. Massive Marvel fan over here! Anyway…. They also had a wheelbarrow full of beer, all with personalised labels.

Sherrie & Simon (33).jpg

Holmes Mill has some amazing backdrops for wedding photography, both inside and outside the venue. What I also love about it is, it is only a stones throw away from Clitheroe Castle. So in the evening, we made the most of being right by it and nipped over for some extra couples portraits.

We headed back in time for the cake cutting and the first dance before leaving the newlyweds to party with their friends and family.

A Winter Wonderland Styled Shoot At Bashall Barn, Clitheroe.

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

Bashall Barn Styled Shoot

After our last styled shoot, Jo (from A Cake Occasion) and I were keen to organise another! We wanted to do something totally different from the last one at Shireburn Arms, Hurst Green. We decided that a ‘Winter Wonderlandstyled shoot would be loads of fun.

Back in June, my husband and I went for lunch at Bashall Barn, near Clitheroe with our kids. I’ve always loved going there; especially for a hot chocolate and a cake! Whilst there, I spoke to Robyn who is a wedding coordinater there and got us booked in. I couldn’t wait to let Jo know that I had yet again, sorted us another awesome Ribble Valley wedding venue. She was just as excited as me.

Bashall Barn Styled Shoot

Jo organised us a board on Pinterest (she is far better with Pinterest than me). She uploaded an image of an incredible wedding cake. Our styling went from there.

Whilst speaking to one of my Mummy friends (Danielle), she mentioned she was building her business in doing bridal hair. She was keen to get involved and set up her Facebook page - Oh So Pretty.

Orchid Designs, Nikki Webb MUA & Rachael from The Wedding Workshop were involved in our last styled shoot. They were also excited about our plans for the shoot and wanted to get involved again. Our plans were coming together quickly.

It was suggested to me to speak to Laura from The Flower Girls, Whalley about making us a wedding bouquet. (I am so glad I did. Everything we suggested floral wise, she was all over. We were looking at getting a real Christmas tree, but decided it would be awkward to transport, just for one day. So she made a feature arch out of winter greenery instead!).

Jo spoke to Jenny from Jen’s Rustic Wood about supplying us with a cake stand. Just wait until you see the final result. It looked amazing!

I then spoke to Paul from Cosgrove’s about supplying a suit. They were in too! Yippee!

We had now found our models too. I knew they were going to look fantastic.

- (85).jpg

Anyway, that’s enough about how we all came together and behind the scenes.

The day of the shoot came. I had high expectations of this day as we had all put so much effort in. We met at Bashall Barn at 9:30. Nikki and Danielle got started on hair and makeup. I took some action shots of that, as if it was real bridal preparation and also got some lovely images of the details as they were being put together by Jo, Rachel and Laura. The Bashall Barn team were straight out to look after us. Tea and coffee was just what we needed!

Everyone was now ready. We had Hayley as a lone bride and Amelia and Brad as a bride and groom. They all looked incredible!

Bashall Barn Styled Shoot

It was the perfect day for this kind of shoot; dry with a dull sky. It was freezing out though. Amelia pointed this out once or twice. She was a good sport though.

I made use of all the beautiful backdrops and I even got them to go in the cow shed. How could I not?

The staff brought us more tea and coffee to warm up. They even gave us all our lunch! How good is that?

- (92).jpg

Here is what some of the team had to say……..

I am a wedding and event florist. I work from home at my family farm in the centre of Whalley. I loved being part of the winter wonderland styled shoot. I provided the bridal bouquet, dressed the archway, cake stand and cake wreath. I also brought along some other decorative bits and bobs.
— Laura from The Flower Girls, Whalley
I design and create luxury and bespoke wedding cakes, including cup cakes and macarons. Each cake is hand crafted with great attention to detail. Their fabulous and flawless clean finish ensure that not only do they look amazing, they taste amazing too!
For the styled shoot, I provided the cake and the macaron wedding favours.
— Jo from A Cake Occasion
Hi. For this shoot, I provided the stationery, table plan and venue dressing. I like to create bespoke stationery for each bride and groom so that it is personal to them and complements throughout. I have a wide range of table plans and personalised plans available, as well as various centre pieces to suit your theme.
I love working on new ideas and styles with my couples!
— Rachael from The Wedding Workshop
I specialise in bridal and occasional hair styling. I love my job and believe that bridal hair shouldn’t have to break the bank to get a quality service. It is such a privilege to be involved in someone’s special day. I just love to make people feel extra special.
— Danielle from Oh So Pretty
I am really big on local community. The fact we had so many local suppliers in one shoot is amazing! I was over the moon to provide the wood for the cake stand. Along with Jo’s amazing cake and the wreath by The Flower Girls, it really came to life.
Anything to do with wood and rustic, I am here for. We already own all of the wood as we have a tree surgeon business too. So there’s no third party high prices to sting your wedding budget. Please get in touch if you’d like your rustic ideas brought to life.
— Jenny from Jen's Rustic Wood

This day was totally amazing! I loved it from start to finish. A massive thank you to everyone involved and a special mention to our gorgeous models; Hayley, Amelia and Brad. Top job, guys!

Autumnal wedding at Artisan Ribble Valley - Gill & Darren

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

Gill & Darren

Earlier this year, I met Gill & Darren at Artisan Ribble Valley for their wedding consultation. It was the perfect place to meet up. Not only is it in between my house in Langho and theirs in Clitheroe, it is also the place they had booked to get married. They told me how they had known each other for many years, but had only recently got together. They bumped into each other at the MOD weekender in Clitheroe back in 2017. They hit it off and the rest is history! We discussed their plans so far. They only wanted a small wedding, so they were only inviting 20 guests. Gill was having her wedding dress hand made by Liz at Orchid Designs in Clitheroe.

Like them, we got on well from the word go and I was booked.

Gill & Darren

Flash forward to October. It was the day of the wedding and it wasn’t raining - yay!

I met Darren at Artisan Ribble Valley and got some shots of the venue and details before the wedding guests arrived. Darren was nervous, but very excited.

Guests were now arriving and it was almost time to get going.

Gill & Darren

Gill had now arrived. Eeeeek! I went out greet her. She looked absolutely amazing! She was also very nervous, but eager to get going.

Her nephew had been given the honour of giving the beautiful bride away. Darren’s face lit up when he saw enter the room. They were both grinning from ear to ear.

The ceremony was lovely. Gill and Darren couldn’t take their eyes off each other. Both of their Mums had tears in their eyes (as did I at one point).

Gill & Darren

The bride and groom were now husband and wife!

They were greeted with a drink by the hotel staff. Their friends and family were keen to congratulate the happy couple. Oh, there were now 40 guests instead of the original 20 as planned. These things happen….

I whisked them outside for couples portraits. My favourite time of the day! They get to have a breather and I get to be creative. Win, win! There are some great areas at Artisan Ribble Valley for portraits. One being the wooden gazebo/band stand in the wooded area. I made a bee line for it.

Gill & Darren

Gill and Darren then enjoyed having a drink and chatting with their friends and family before their wedding breakfast. I left them shortly after speeches and the cake cutting.

Here is what Gill and Darren had to say about their experience of me working as their wedding photographer;

Hi Jane. Received our photos today. They’re absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much, we’re thrilled with them. We couldn’t have asked for anything better.... We had a lovely day and we’re so glad you were a big part of it. Thanks again 😘 Love Gill and Darren xx

Last November, Cheryl made contact with me about being her wedding photographer. She had seen some of my work on Facebook. We arranged to meet up at Starbucks on the A59, Barrow for a coffee and a chat. We hit it off straight away and I just knew that we were well suited.

Speaking of well suited, Cheryl and Alan were set up by a mutual friend of theirs. They both said they knew they were the perfect match for each other from the moment they met. Their first date was 3 years ago and Alan proposed 2 years later. He popped the big question on a jetty on Lytham sea front, not too far from where they first met.

Cheryl and her 3 bridesmaids got ready at Cheryl's parents house in Fulwood, Preston. I love shooting bridal preparation; it gives me chance to become one of the girls for the day. I get to know the bride better, which means they tend to be even more relaxed during the day.

_ (5).jpg

The bride and groom got married just round the corner from Cheryl's parents home - St. Anthony's R C Church in Fulwood. Cheryl was dropped off for the ceremony in a 1975 Royale Drophead. She looked absolutely incredible! Cheryl is a primary school teacher. Whilst the signing of the register was taking place, pupil from her school entertained the wedding guests by singing a couple of songs. It really was heart warming.

After the wedding ceremony was finished, the new Mr & Mrs Elstone were driven across to The Glass House, Staining for their wedding reception. What a fantastic venue it is. The staff were all super friendly and helpful too! Cheryl's friends had helped out with details there, making it even more special. One of them had hand painted table names (flowers) and one of her bridesmaids had made the wedding cake! It really made me giggle when she threw a pinny on over her bridesmaid dress.

If you follow my work, you will already know that couples portraits are my favourite time of the day. This wedding made no exception to that! I spotted some old barn doors and a red brick wall. They both made great backdrops. I'd also spotted a great field, right across the golf course. It was far too far away for the bride to walk to in heels. I had a word with a member of staff who was able to source us some golf buggies. I am so glad they did as that made one of my favourite images from the day. I think Alan particularly enjoyed that part too.

Laura & Anthony do marriage - St John’s Church, Burnley and Best Western - Higher Trapp, Simonstone.

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Family Photographer.

_-404.jpg

Back in June, I have the privilege of being Laura and Anthony's wedding photographer.  Anthony's Mum, Sandra had found me on Facebook.  I had met up with the three of them in January. We discussed the bride and grooms plans over a Starbucks coffee at Blackburn. We instantly hit it off and they booked me there and then - happy days!

Laura and Anthony got ready for their big day just doors apart in Worsthorne, Burnley. Laura got ready at their address and Anthony nipped next door but one to his parents. I was able to cover both bridal and groom preparation this way. It was a busy morning; bridesmaids and groomsmen everywhere. That being said, everything ran calmly and smoothly.

Laura and Anthony got married at St John's Church in Burnley. It was a lovely ceremony, full of big smiles and lots of love!

From there, the newlyweds made their way to Best Western - Higher Trapp Hotel. They were followed by friends and family. I rushed on ahead to get there before them. It was time for everyone to grab a refreshing drink from the drinks reception. It was a boiling hot summers day, so they all needed it.

Whilst the guests were busy, I whisked the new Mr & Mrs McGowan away for couples' portraits, my favourite time of the day. The grounds at the Higher Trapp are beautiful, so I made sure that we made best use of them.

In the evening, Anthony surprised his new wife. He had been having secret Irish dancing lessons. He had arranged three dancers to come along and join him to impress Laura. Her face was a picture! Well done Anthony!

An elegant outdoor wedding at the Higher Trapp, Simonstone - Lianne & Chris

Who doesn't love a good old wedding? Well this one was a corker!

As well as being a wedding photographer and having my own photography business, I often second shoot for other wedding photographers. On this occasion, I was working for my good friend Laura from Laura Duggleby Photography. It was the wedding of Chris and Lianne and it was all held at Best Western, Higher Trapp Hotel at Simonstone, Burnley. This is a perfect wedding venue; it is a beautiful building, it has stunning grounds and the staff are very attentive. What makes it even more amazing is..... it's only a 10 minute drive from my house in Langho in the Ribble Valley! Happy days!

Anyway, Lianne and Chris got married in April. That week where it was scorching hot, remember? There wasn't a cloud in the sky. Lianne and her ladies got ready at the hotel. Wow, that was an excitable room! Lianne as looking amazing. Her wedding dress and shoes were something else! Everything was coming together nicely.

Chris and his groomsmen had now arrived, so I took them off for some portraits before the guests began to arrive. We had a laugh about anything and everything.

The wedding ceremony took place outside in the garden. Chris was stood up front in the bandstand, guests were sat waiting to catch a glimpse of Lianne and a string quartet was playing in the background.

The bridesmaids led Lianne and her Dad out of the hotel, down the steps and down the aisle. Wow. Lianne made a stunning bride. It was a lovely little ceremony and they soon became husband and wife.

From there, it was time for couples portraits for the bride and groom. I love this part of the day. They made our job really easy as they are so relaxed and natural together. Relaxed and natural is what I go for with a photograph. I don't like couples to look forced. It just doesn't work for me.

Celebrations were now getting started. The whole day was fantastic from start to finish. Below are a selection of my favourite image from their special day.

A Sunny Sheffield Wedding - Liam and Samantha

Who remembers my epic pre wedding shoot at Fletcher's Moss, Manchester with Liam and Samantha? Quick re-cap for you. It was back in March and the week it snowed, a lot! I was travelling to Manchester from the Ribble Valley, Lancashire and they were coming from their home in Sheffield. We were concerned that we were going to have to cancel due to the weather. But we rolled with it. And boy, I am so glad we did. It was an awesome afternoon and we got loads of fabulous images. One of my personal favourites is just below. As you can see from the image above, I repeated it on their wedding day.

So that was March. Moving forwards to May and I was on my travels again. This time from my home in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire across to The Royal Victoria Holiday Inn, Sheffield for Samantha and Liam's wedding day! I was so excited to see them both again. I was also keen to see what Liam was wearing. He is very quirky and I love that. I knew he wouldn't let me down.

I arrived at the hotel in Sheffield and made my way up to see Samantha for bridal preparation. She had her Mum, two nieces and a friend with her. It was also the day of the Royal wedding, so the ladies had that on the TV in the background. It was a lovely, calm morning. Samantha was a little nervous, but so relaxed with it. I snapped away whilst she and her crew were being pampered. They all looked amazing!

Liam had now arrived with some friends. He didn't disappoint! He had a deep purple three piece suit on, white shirt and purple tie. Purple is his favourite colour and he HAD to wear it! Dapper groom indeed!

Back to the bride to get her in her totally fabulous wedding dress and shoes. Her Mum and friend, Michelle helped her get in to it. She looked totally amazing! Her smile filled the room. We were all very excited for her Dad to come in and clap eyes on her. I do love a good Dad reaction. Again, he didn't disappoint. In fact, it was possibly the best Dad reaction I have ever seen. His eyes filled up and he was speechless. Samantha Literally stopped him in his tracks. I had to tell him to go and give her a hug!

It was now time to get this fabulous couple married. It was a perfect little service. Two pageboys and two flower girls walked down the aisle to introduce the bride's entrance. Samantha and Liam smiled at each other the whole way through. Family and friends were full of joy.

Straight after they became husband and wife, I whipped them and the guests outside for photographs. We started with a confetti shot before doing a few groups. It was then time for my favouite time of the day; couples portraits!

I knew I was especially going to enjoy this as I had already done their pre wedding shoot and knew how relaxed they are together. This is often the newlyweds favourite time on the day too as they get the have a breather and actually speak to each other.

I was right, I did enjoy this session. Samantha and Liam were relaxed again. They listened to me and were happy for me just to do my thing. This couples session weather was very different to the cold, snowy weather for their pre wedding shoot. It was scorching!

After I had finished making some gorgeous images for the bride and groom to keep and treasure forever, They went in to make a start on their wedding breakfast. This was finished off with some speeches. It was the first ever grooms speech that I have seen Liam style; he "winged it".

As you can imagine, their evening reception was great fun too. There were several children there who took over the dance floor; busting all their great moves. There was a sweetie cart there to give them all even more energy..... Liam and Samantha had a selfie mirror too. I think I have even managed to appear in their guest book, sorry about that guys....

I love this couple. They are fantastic together!

Well, last Sunday saw the wedding of the new Mr & Mrs McGowan!

They had made contact with me earlier this year about their summer wedding and booked straight away. We had met at Starbucks and discussed their plans over a coffee. Sandra, the grooms Mum came along to the meeting. She was just as excited as them for the big day.

The bride and groom got ready just doors away from each other in Worsthorne, Burnley. Laura was getting ready at their home with her Mum and bridesmaids and Anthony got ready at the family home with his groomsmen and Dad.

They then had a church wedding at St. John's Church, Ivy Street, Burnley before heading off to the The Higher Trapp, Simonstone, Burnley for a lovely wedding reception.

Full details of this fantastic day with more beautiful images to follow. Watch this space!

Fabulous styled shoot at The Shireburn Arms, Hurst Green.

Ribble Valley & Lancashire Wedding and Newborn Photographer.

Shireburn Styled Shoot

A couple of months ago, I was chatting with a good friend of mine, Jo from a cake occasion. She thought it would be fun for us to work together on a styled shoot. I automatically thought that it would be super fun!

So we got our heads together to decide on a theme and fabulous venue to do the shoot. We both agreed that boho theme was perfect and that we both loved The Shireburn Arms at Hurst Green. So I emailed Robyn, the events manager at The Shireburn Arms. She was keen to get involved. We were now ecstatic! From there, I spoke to Natalie from Victoria & Natalie Flowers, they were also keen to get involved. Get in! We were on a roll! I have worked with them in the past and love their floral designs, so I knew they'd do a good job.

A week or so later, I was at another wedding shoot and bumped into Nikki from Nikki Web hair and makeup. We got chatting, as you do. Turned out that she wanted in too. It was great as I had seen her in action and she was awesome. Later that week, I posted a few photos from that wedding. Another local supplier (Rachael from The Wedding Workshop) got in touch with me about them as she had liked how I worked. Turns out that she does wedding stationery and offered her help too. How amazing?

I had also been in chat with Liz from Orchid Designs in Clitheroe. I met Jo and her daughter Hannah (aka our bride model) at the shop. Liz had selected some beautiful wedding dresses out for Hannah to try. That lady seriously knows her job! They were all perfect! The first one Hannah tried on was the winner. So wedding dress, shoes and veil were now ticked off.  Now we just needed a groom!

Liz suggested we went to see Deane at Attire of Clitheroe. He was so helpful and even suggested a friend of his to be the groom. Deane gave me his friends number and said to get in touch. So I messaged this friend, Alan and arranged to meet him at the shop the following week.

The week went and back to Attire I went. I felt a bit nervous. It was almost like going on a blind date, but for a groom model! In walked Alan. Boom, he was perfect! Deane sorted out a suit, waistcoat and matching bow tie. Perfect.

It was now that day of the shoot. I dropped my daughter off at preschool before heading up to The Shireburn Arms. I got there first (just the way I like it). The staff there couldn't have been more helpful. As I was getting all my stuff inside (yes, that is the technical term), they made me a lovely latte. If you know me, you'll know by know how much I love a coffee. The rest of the team arrived whilst I was setting up. Jo, Rachael and I got everything set up whilst Nikki worked her magic on Hannah. Hannah was feeling a little nervous as she had never done anything like this and she hadn't met Alan at this point. In fact, no one had. They had put their trust in me.... Alan walked in at this point. All the ladies agreed he was perfect for our job.

We were now ready to rock 'n' roll! Hannah and Alan were like pros. they nailed it and worked really well together. This made my job so much easier as I had never done wedding photography with a non couple. Let alone a couple that had only met each other 30 minutes previously! The weather was just right too. No rain, no bright sun. Although poor Hannah did get a bit cold and had to pinch her Mum's coat in between shots. The team were amazing. We soon got through the shots I wanted.

Perfect, because that meant it was lunchtime. It would have been rude not to stay and eat, so we did. The food was as amazing as always. I can recommend the Beef and Bowland Ale Pie. Yum!

I love shooting weddings and cover Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Manchester and Cheshire (and pretty much anywhere else, if you ask nicely).  Book your 2018 wedding photography for just £850 for a full day!

Thank you so much to everyone involved in making it happen.
